    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to enterprise zones; creating s.
    3         290.0078, F.S.; authorizing the City of Lake City and
    4         Columbia County to apply to the Office of Tourism,
    5         Trade, and Economic Development for designation of one
    6         enterprise zone within a specified area; providing an
    7         application deadline; limiting the size of the
    8         enterprise zone; requiring that the office establish
    9         the initial effective date of the enterprise zone;
   10         providing an effective date.

   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13         
   14         Section 1. Section 290.0078, Florida Statutes, is created
   15  to read:
   16         290.0078Enterprise zone designation for the City of Lake
   17  City and Columbia County.—The City of Lake City and Columbia
   18  County may jointly apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and
   19  Economic Development for designation of one enterprise zone for
   20  an area within the City of Lake City and Columbia County,
   21  encompassing an area not to exceed 20 square miles. The
   22  application must be submitted by December 31, 2009, and must
   23  comply with the requirements of s. 290.0055. Notwithstanding the
   24  provisions of s. 290.0065 limiting the total number of
   25  enterprise zones designated and the number of enterprise zones
   26  within a population category, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and
   27  Economic Development may designate one enterprise zone under
   28  this section. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
   29  Development shall establish the initial effective date of the
   30  enterprise zone designated pursuant to this section.
   31         Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
