       Senator Deutch moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment to Amendment (413008) (with title
    2  amendment)

    4         Between lines 150 and 151
    5  insert:
    6         Section 5. Subsection (7) of section 1003.62, Florida
    7  Statutes, is amended to read:
    8         1003.62 Academic performance-based charter school
    9  districts.—The State Board of Education may enter into a
   10  performance contract with district school boards as authorized
   11  in this section for the purpose of establishing them as academic
   12  performance-based charter school districts. The purpose of this
   13  section is to examine a new relationship between the State Board
   14  of Education and district school boards that will produce
   15  significant improvements in student achievement, while complying
   16  with constitutional and statutory requirements assigned to each
   17  entity.
   18         (7) PILOT PROGRAM CHARTER SCHOOL DISTRICTS; GRANDFATHER
   19  PROVISION.—The State Board of Education shall use the criteria
   20  approved in the initial charter applications issued to the
   21  school districts of Volusia, Hillsborough, Orange, and Palm
   22  Beach Counties to renew those pilot program charter school
   23  districts in accordance with this subsection. No additional
   24  pilot program charter school districts shall be approved, and
   25  the pilot program consists solely of school districts in
   26  Volusia, Hillsborough, Orange, and Palm Beach Counties. The
   27  termination of the charter school districts pilot program is
   28  effective July 1, 2014 July 1, 2010.
