3     Amendment (with title amendment)
4     Remove lines 1456-1512 and insert:
5     101.657  Early voting.--
6     (1)(a)  As a convenience to the voter, the supervisor of
7elections shall allow an elector to vote early in the main or
8branch office of the supervisor. The supervisor shall mark,
9code, indicate on, or otherwise track the voter's precinct for
10each early voted ballot. In order for a branch office to be used
11for early voting, it shall be a permanent facility of the
12supervisor and shall have been designated and used as such for
13at least 1 year prior to the election. The supervisor may also
14designate any city hall, or permanent public library facility,
15or any other facility open to the public as early voting sites;
16however, if so designated, the sites must be geographically
17located so as to provide all voters in the county an equal
18opportunity to cast a ballot, insofar as is practicable. The
19results or tabulation of votes cast during early voting may not
20be made before the close of the polls on election day. Results
21shall be reported by precinct.
22     (b)  The supervisor shall designate each early voting site
23by no later than the 30th day prior to an election and shall
24designate an early voting area, as defined in s. 97.021, at each
25early voting site.
26     (c)  All early voting sites in a county shall be open on
27the same days for the same amount of time and shall allow any
28person in line at the closing of an early voting site to vote.
29     (d)  Early voting shall begin on the 15th day before an
30election and end on the 2nd day before an election. For purposes
31of a special election held pursuant to s. 100.101, early voting
32shall begin on the 8th day before an election and end on the 2nd
33day before an election. Early voting shall be provided for 8
34hours each day per weekday and 8 hours in the aggregate each
35weekend at each site during the applicable periods. Early voting
36sites shall open no sooner than 7 a.m. and close no later than 7
37p.m. on each applicable day.
38     (e)  Notwithstanding the requirements of s. 100.3605,
39municipalities may provide early voting in municipal elections
40that are not held in conjunction with county or state elections.
41If a municipality provides early voting, it may designate as
42many sites as necessary and shall conduct its activities in
43accordance with the provisions of paragraphs (a)-(c). The
44supervisor is not required to conduct early voting if it is
45provided pursuant to this subsection.
46     (f)  Notwithstanding the requirements of s. 189.405,
47special districts may provide early voting in any district
48election not held in conjunction with county or state elections.
49If a special district provides early voting, it may designate as
50many sites as necessary and shall conduct its activities in
51accordance with the provisions of paragraphs (a)-(c). The
52supervisor is not required to conduct early voting if it is
53provided pursuant to this subsection.
