    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to identification cards; amending s.
    3         322.051, F.S.; requiring the Department of Highway
    4         Safety and Motor Vehicles to issue an identification
    5         card to any person who surrenders a valid Florida
    6         driver's license to the department; providing an
    7         effective date.
    8         
    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10         
   11         Section 1. Subsection (9) is added to section 322.051,
   12  Florida Statutes, to read:
   13         322.051 Identification cards.—
   14         (9) The department shall issue at no charge an
   15  identification card to any person who surrenders a valid Florida
   16  driver's license voluntarily or pursuant to a mandate by the
   17  department. The identification card shall expire on the date
   18  that the surrendered driver's license would have normally
   19  expired.
   20         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
