1	House Resolution
2	A resolution designating March 18, 2009, as "Links,
3	Incorporated, Day" at the Capitol.

5	WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated, is a highly respected
6	international organization of more than 12,000 professional,
7	accomplished, dedicated women of African ancestry in 270
8	chapters located in 42 American states, the District of
9	Columbia, and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas with a mission and
10	purpose of friendship and community service, and
11	WHEREAS, members of The Links, Incorporated, are role
12	models, mentors, activists, and volunteers who work toward
13	purposeful public service involving educational, cultural, and
14	civic commitments through the organization's four functional
15	facets, International Trends and Services, National Trends and
16	Services, The Arts, and Services to Youth, and
17	WHEREAS, the National Trends and Services facet of The
18	Links, Incorporated, also encompasses service related to health
19	and wellness, as well as legislative work, which highlights and
20	addresses concerns of the organization and also affects both
21	African Americans and society as a whole, and
22	WHEREAS, the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated, has
23	officially launched its Childhood Obesity Initiative and
24	simultaneously announced its partnership with the American Heart
25	Association to provide resources to support this initiative with
26	Chapters of The Links, Incorporated, located throughout the
27	Southern Area, and
28	WHEREAS, members of The Links, Incorporated, from around
29	the state have assembled at the Capitol on this day, March 18,
30	2009, to demonstrate their support for the elimination of
31	childhood obesity, NOW, THEREFORE,

33	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
34	Florida:

36	That the House of Representatives welcomes the members of
37	the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated, and designates
38	March 18, 2009, as "Links, Incorporated, Day" at the Capitol.
39	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
40	presented to Mary F. Currie, Director of the Southern Area of
41	The Links, Incorporated, as a tangible token of the sentiments
42	expressed herein.
