House Resolution
2A resolution in recognition of the Jupiter Christian
3School Eagles, 2008 Class 1B High School Football State
4Champions.

6     WHEREAS, on Friday, December 12, 2008, the Jupiter
7Christian School Eagles defeated South Daytona-Warner Christian
8in the Citrus Bowl stadium in Orlando by a score of 49-14 to win
9the 2008 Class 1B State High School Football Championship for
10the second consecutive year, and
11     WHEREAS, the championship win was the culmination of a 14-
12win regular season in which Jupiter Christian, under the
13guidance of Head Coach Bill Powers, dominated its opponents,
14winning by an average of 36 points per game, and was also the
1527th consecutive win for the Eagles, which is the best
16consecutive high school football winning streak in the state,
17and
18     WHEREAS, when Bill Powers assumed the head coaching duties
19in 2005, Jupiter Christian had lost 17 consecutive games, and
20though the 2007 championship win was considered an upset by
21many, the decisive manner in which the Eagles eliminated their
22opposition in both the 2008 regular season and championship game
23left no doubt in anyone's minds as to the caliber of their
24skill, athleticism, and determination, NOW, THEREFORE,

26Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
27Florida:

29     That the Jupiter Christian School Eagles are hereby
30recognized as Florida's 2008 Class 1B High School Football State
31Champions and the House of Representatives of the State of
32Florida extends its congratulations to Head Coach Bill Powers
33and all his assistant coaches, along with the players,
34cheerleaders, administration, faculty, staff, parents, and
35friends of Jupiter Christian School.
36     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
37presented to Head Coach Bill Powers as a tangible token of the
38sentiments expressed herein.
