| 6 | WHEREAS, on Friday, December 12, 2008, the Jupiter |
| 7 | Christian School Eagles defeated South Daytona-Warner Christian |
| 8 | in the Citrus Bowl stadium in Orlando by a score of 49-14 to win |
| 9 | the 2008 Class 1B State High School Football Championship for |
| 10 | the second consecutive year, and |
| 11 | WHEREAS, the championship win was the culmination of a 14- |
| 12 | win regular season in which Jupiter Christian, under the |
| 13 | guidance of Head Coach Bill Powers, dominated its opponents, |
| 14 | winning by an average of 36 points per game, and was also the |
| 15 | 27th consecutive win for the Eagles, which is the best |
| 16 | consecutive high school football winning streak in the state, |
| 17 | and |
| 18 | WHEREAS, when Bill Powers assumed the head coaching duties |
| 19 | in 2005, Jupiter Christian had lost 17 consecutive games, and |
| 20 | though the 2007 championship win was considered an upset by |
| 21 | many, the decisive manner in which the Eagles eliminated their |
| 22 | opposition in both the 2008 regular season and championship game |
| 23 | left no doubt in anyone's minds as to the caliber of their |
| 24 | skill, athleticism, and determination, NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 26 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 27 | Florida: |

| 29 | That the Jupiter Christian School Eagles are hereby |
| 30 | recognized as Florida's 2008 Class 1B High School Football State |
| 31 | Champions and the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 32 | Florida extends its congratulations to Head Coach Bill Powers |
| 33 | and all his assistant coaches, along with the players, |
| 34 | cheerleaders, administration, faculty, staff, parents, and |
| 35 | friends of Jupiter Christian School. |
| 36 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |
| 37 | presented to Head Coach Bill Powers as a tangible token of the |
| 38 | sentiments expressed herein. |
