House Resolution
2A resolution honoring Colonel Timothy Walton Conway, III,
3State Surgeon of the Florida Army National Guard.

5     WHEREAS, since 2003, the Florida National Guard has
6provided more than 10,000 troops for federal active military
7duty missions, including deployment of guard members to
8Afghanistan and Iraq, and
9     WHEREAS, the Florida Army National Guard also provides for
10deployment of troops to deal with emergencies within our
11borders, and
12     WHEREAS, the Florida Medical Detachment of the Florida Army
13National Guard has the responsibility of maintaining the medical
14readiness of guard personnel for both overseas and domestic
15missions, and
16     WHEREAS, Colonel Timothy Walton Conway, III, joined the
17Florida Army National Guard through a direct commission as a
18captain in the Dental Corps on November 15, 1988, and
19     WHEREAS, Colonel Conway rose through the ranks of the 131st
20Mobile Army Surgical Hospital unit in Temple Terrace, Florida,
21where he served as the chief of professional services, and
22     WHEREAS, in 1999, Colonel Conway served on a military
23mission to Ecuador with C-Med of the 53rd Infantry Brigade,
24providing dental care to thousands of natives in austere
25conditions, and
26     WHEREAS, in the spring of 2004, Colonel Conway was
27appointed as the State Surgeon for the Florida Army National
28Guard and assumed command of the Florida Medical Detachment, and
29     WHEREAS, the Florida Medical Detachment under the command
30of Colonel Conway has successfully performed thousands of
31periodic health assessments, physical exams, and dental exams,
32and conducted soldier readiness programs, and
33     WHEREAS, Colonel Conway is retiring from duty after more
34than 20 years of National Guard service, NOW, THEREFORE,

36Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
37Florida:

39     That the Florida House of Representatives honors Colonel
40Timothy Walton Conway, III, State Surgeon of the Florida Army
41National Guard, for his dedication, command direction, and
42leadership during his years of service to our country and state.
43     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
44presented to Colonel Timothy Walton Conway, III, as a tangible
45token of the sentiments expressed herein.
