House Resolution
2A resolution recognizing the 2008-2009 Merritt Island High
3School Boys' Soccer Team, winners of the Florida High
4School Athletic Association Class 4A State Championship.

6     WHEREAS, with commitment, determination, and hard work, the
72008-2009 Merritt Island High School Boys' Soccer Team won the
8Florida High School Athletic Association Class 4A State
9Championship on February 21, 2009, at Pepin Stadium in Tampa by
10beating defending state champion, Allen D. Nease High School, by
11a score of 1 to 0 in double-overtime, and
12     WHEREAS, on the path to claiming the State Championship
13title, the 2008-2009 Merritt Island High School Boys' Soccer
14Team compiled a 17-2-4 season record, and
15     WHEREAS, outstanding skill, sportsmanship, and
16competitiveness have been characteristics consistently
17demonstrated by Mustangs teammates Ben Behrhorst, Matt
18Behrhorst, Ben Berry, Brad Bone, Chris Chica, Cody Daly, Sean
19Duble, Adam Fertig, Michael Hinds, Eric Huppert, Trevor Lewis,
20Tim Liston, Tyler Marshall, Aaron Mayer, Josh Mills, Jake Moore,
21Malcolm Mozee, Chason Spencer, Tyler Starr, Ian Stoll, Josh
22Strannigan, Jonathan Wagner, Christian Williams, and Tommy
23Williams and head coach Scooty Carey, and
24     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the 2008-2009 Merritt
25Island High School Boys' Soccer Team is applauded for the
26numerous accomplishments of its players and coaches, NOW,
27THEREFORE,

29Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
30Florida:

32     That the Florida House of Representatives honors the 2008-
332009 Merritt Island High School Boys' Soccer Team for their
34outstanding record and for being the 2009 Florida High School
35Athletic Association Class 4A State Champions.
36     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
37presented to the 2008-2009 Merritt Island High School Boys'
38Soccer Team as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed
39herein.
