3 | Mental Health Awareness Day" in Florida. |

5 | WHEREAS, May is National Mental Health Month, and |
6 | WHEREAS, the importance of meeting the mental health needs |
7 | of Florida's youngest and most vulnerable citizens is widely |
8 | recognized, and |
9 | WHEREAS, an estimated one in five children has a mental |
10 | health disorder, and early intervention and appropriate help and |
11 | support improve the chances of Florida's children reaching |
12 | adulthood and leading healthy and more successful lives, and |
13 | WHEREAS, effective children's mental health services are |
14 | collaborative, community based, and family driven, and |
15 | WHEREAS, multiple state agencies, including the Department |
16 | of Children and Family Services, the Department of Education, |
17 | the Department of Health, the Department of Juvenile Justice, |
18 | and the Agency for Health Care Administration, as well as the |
19 | Sarasota Partnership for Children's Mental Health, work with |
20 | local cities, counties, community agencies, and mental health |
21 | professionals to serve children and adolescents by caring for |
22 | their mental health needs, and |
23 | WHEREAS, Children's Mental Health Awareness Day helps |
24 | inform the residents of Florida of the critical need for |
25 | effective care and special programs designed to assist children |
26 | and youth with mental health needs and their families, NOW, |
27 | THEREFORE, |

33 | extend greetings and best wishes to all those observing May 7, |
34 | 2009, as "Children's Mental Health Awareness Day" in Florida. |
