2An act relating to Hillsborough County; amending chapter
32001-299, Laws of Florida, relating to the Public
4Transportation Commission; revising definitions; revising
5requirements of the director; providing an effective date.

7Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9     Section 1.  Subsections (1), (30), (33), and (34) of
10section 3 and subsection (1) of section 6 of chapter 2001-299,
11Laws of Florida, are amended to read:
12     Section 3.  Definitions.--As used in this act:
13     (1)  "Basic life support ambulance" means any privately or
14publicly owned vehicle, except those operated by any
15municipality, that is designed, constructed, reconstructed,
16maintained, equipped, or operated for and is used for or
17intended to be used for transportation of a sick or injured
18person persons requiring or likely to require medical attention
19during transport by a qualified person persons through the use
20of techniques such as patient assessment, cardiopulmonary
21resuscitation, splinting, obstetrical assistance, bandaging,
22administration of oxygen, application of medical anti-shock
23trousers, administration of a subcutaneous injection using a
24premeasured autoinjector of epinephrine to a person suffering an
25anaphylactic analyphylactic reaction, and other techniques
26described in the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Training
27Course Curriculum of the United States Department of
28Transportation or the Florida Department of Health and the
29requirements of chapter 401, Florida Statutes.
30     (30)  "Taxicab" means any motor-driven vehicle, equipped
31with a taximeter, with a capacity for 9 or fewer less
32passengers, including the driver, for the transportation of for
33hire passengers, which operates within Hillsborough County, but
34does not include sight-seeing cars or buses, streetcars, or
35motor buses operated pursuant to a public franchise.
36     (33)  "Van" means any motor-driven vehicle with a capacity
37for of 10 to 15 passengers, including the driver, for the
38transportation of for hire passengers, which operates within the
39county but does not include sight-seeing cars and buses,
40streetcars, motor buses operated pursuant to a public franchise,
41or courtesy vans, and limousines not for hire.
42     (34)  "Wrecker" means any truck or other privately owned
43motor driven vehicle that is used to tow, carry, or otherwise
44transport motor vehicles or vessels upon the streets and
45highways of this state and that is equipped for that purpose
46with a boom, winch, car carrier, or other similar equipment and
47is in the recovery, towing, or removal of wrecked, disabled,
48stolen, and abandoned motor vehicles and contracted for use by,
49through, or for any unit of local, county, or state government,
50and not authorized to transport passengers for hire or any
51person regularly engaged in towing or storing vehicles or
52vessels in Hillsborough County pursuant to section 715.07,
53Florida Statutes.
54     Section 6.  Commission staff.--
55     (1)  The commission may employ a director who shall, at as
56a minimum, hold a bachelor's degree in public administration,
57management, criminal justice, or a related field or and have 5
58years of executive, law enforcement, or management experience.
59     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
