A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to state park designations; redesignating
3Grayton Beach State Park as Bob Graham/Grayton Beach State
4Park; designating the Jack Mashburn Marina within St.
5Andrew's State Park; directing the Division of Recreation
6and Parks of the Department of Environmental Protection to
7erect appropriate signs and markers; providing an
8effective date.

10     WHEREAS, Bob Graham's roots in Walton County go back for
11generations, and
12     WHEREAS, in the 1890s, Bob Graham's grandfather, Dr. Daniel
13Simmons, opened a medical practice in Freeport, and
14     WHEREAS, Bob Graham's mother and her five siblings were
15born in Walton County and his mother graduated from Walton
16County High School in 1924, and
17     WHEREAS, in 1985, as Governor, Bob Graham strongly
18supported the efforts of the residents of Walton County to
19encourage the state to purchase the beachfront and the dunes and
20forest land adjacent to Grayton Beach State Park, and
21     WHEREAS, this valuable addition to the park might never
22have occurred without Bob Graham's personal involvement, and
23     WHEREAS, Bob Graham, as a former United States Senator,
24Governor, State Senator, and State Representative for Florida,
25is recognized as one of the state's most popular political
26leaders and environmental policy advocates, NOW, THEREFORE,

28Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

30     Section 1.  Bob Graham/Grayton Beach State Park
31designation.-
32     (1)  Grayton Beach State Park is redesignated as the Bob
33Graham/Grayton Beach State Park.
34     (2)  The Division of Recreation and Parks of the Department
35of Environmental Protection is directed to erect appropriate
36signs and markers designating the Bob Graham/Grayton Beach State
37Park as described in subsection (1).
38     Section 2.  Jack Mashburn Marina designation.-
39     (1)  The marina at Grand Lagoon within St. Andrew's State
40Park, commonly referred to as the "boat basin," is designated as
41the Jack Mashburn Marina.
42     (2)  The Division of Recreation and Parks of the Department
43of Environmental Protection is directed to erect appropriate
44signs and markers designating the Jack Mashburn Marina as
45described in subsection (1).
46     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
