    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to driving safety; creating the
    3         “Ronshay Dugans Act”; designating Drowsy Driving
    4         Prevention Week; encouraging the Department of Highway
    5         Safety and Motor Vehicles and the Department of
    6         Transportation to educate the law enforcement
    7         community and the public about the relationship
    8         between fatigue and driving performance; providing an
    9         effective date.

   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12  
   13         Section 1. This act may be cited as the “Ronshay Dugans
   14  Act.”
   15         Section 2. (1) The first week of September is designated as
   16  “Drowsy Driving Prevention Week” in this state.
   17         (2) During Drowsy Driving Prevention Week, the Department
   18  of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and the Department of
   19  Transportation are encouraged to educate the law enforcement
   20  community and the public about the relationship between fatigue
   21  and driving performance and the research showing fatigue to be
   22  as much of an impairment as alcohol and as dangerous while
   23  operating a motor vehicle.
   24         Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
