A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the City of Lauderhill, Broward County;
3extending and enlarging the corporate limits of the city
4to include specified unincorporated lands; providing an
5effective date of annexation; providing an effective date.

7Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
8
9     Section 1.  The legal description of the area referred to
10in this act is as follows:
11
12That portion of Section 31, Township 49 South, Range
1342 East, Broward County, Florida described as follows:
14
15Begin at the point of intersection of the East line of
16said Section 31 with the centerline of Sunrise
17Boulevard, as shown on the plat of THUNDERBIRD SWAP
18SHOP I, according to the plat thereof, as recorded in
19Plat Book 139, Page 2, of the Public Records of
20Broward County Florida;

22Thence Westerly along said centerline to a point of
23the Southerly prolongation of the West line of EXXON-
24SUNRISE BOULEVARD, according to the plat thereof, as
25recorded in Plat Book 141, Page 38, of the Public
26records of Broward County, Florida, said point being
27on the municipal boundary of the City of Lauderhill,
28as established by Ordinance No. 04-10-217;

30Thence Northerly along said Southerly prolongation and
31the West line of said plat and along said municipal
32boundary to the Northwest corner of said plat;

34Thence Easterly along the North line of said plat and
35the Easterly prolongation thereof and along said
36municipal boundary to a point of intersection with the
37East line of said Section 31;

39Thence Southerly along said East line to the POINT OF
40BEGINNING.

42     Section 2.  The area described in section 1 shall be deemed
43a part of the City of Lauderhill on September 15, 2010, subject
44to section 171.062, Florida Statutes, except as provided for in
45this act.
46     Section 3.  Upon annexation into the City of Lauderhill,
47the area described in section 1 shall be governed as follows:
48     (1)  The annexed property shall be governed by the relevant
49land use and zoning provisions of the City of Lauderhill's Code
50of Ordinances. Any change of the zoning districts or land use
51designations may only be accomplished by enactment of the vote
52of a majority plus one of the full governing body of the City of
53Lauderhill.
54     (2)  Notwithstanding subsection (1), any use, building, or
55structure that is legally in existence at the time of annexation
56shall become a part of the City of Lauderhill. Such use shall
57not be made a prohibited use by the City of Lauderhill, on the
58property of such use, for as long as the use shall continue and
59not be voluntarily abandoned.
60     Section 4.  Nothing in this act shall be construed to
61affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contract,
62whether the contract be between Broward County and a third party
63or the City of Lauderhill and a third party, or between
64nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in effect prior to
65the effective date of the annexation.
66     Section 5.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
