2An act relating to personal transport devices; amending s.
3316.003, F.S.; revising the definition of the term
4"electric personal assistive mobility device" for purposes
5of the Florida Uniform Traffic Control Law; providing an
6effective date.

8Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10     Section 1.  Subsection (83) of section 316.003, Florida
11Statutes, is amended to read:
12     316.003  Definitions.-The following words and phrases, when
13used in this chapter, shall have the meanings respectively
14ascribed to them in this section, except where the context
15otherwise requires:
16     (83)  ELECTRIC PERSONAL ASSISTIVE MOBILITY DEVICE.-Any
17self-balancing, two-nontandem-wheeled device, designed to
18transport only one person, with an electric propulsion system
19with average power of up to 750 watts (1 horsepower), the
20maximum speed of which, on a paved level surface when powered
21solely by such a propulsion system while being ridden by an
22operator who weighs 170 pounds, is less than 20 miles per hour.
23Electric personal assistive mobility devices are not vehicles as
24defined in this section.
25     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
