A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to Hillsborough County; amending chapter
32001-299, Laws of Florida, relating to the Public
4Transportation Commission; revising definitions; providing
5an effective date.

7Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9     Section 1.  Subsections (1) and (34) of section 3 of
10chapter 2001-299, Laws of Florida, are amended to read:
11     Section 3.  Definitions.-As used in this act:
12     (1)  "Basic life support ambulance" means any privately or
13publicly owned vehicle, except those operated by any
14municipality, that is designed, constructed, reconstructed,
15maintained, equipped, or operated for and is used for or
16intended to be used for transportation of a sick or injured
17person persons requiring or likely to require medical attention
18during transport by a qualified person persons through the use
19of techniques such as patient assessment, cardiopulmonary
20resuscitation, splinting, obstetrical assistance, bandaging,
21administration of oxygen, application of medical anti-shock
22trousers, administration of a subcutaneous injection using a
23premeasured autoinjector of epinephrine to a person suffering an
24anaphylactic analyphylactic reaction, and other techniques
25described in the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Training
26Course Curriculum of the United States Department of
27Transportation or the Florida Department of Health and the
28requirements of chapter 401, Florida Statutes.
29     (34)  "Wrecker" means any truck or other privately owned
30motor driven vehicle that is used to tow, carry, or otherwise
31transport motor vehicles or vessels upon the streets and
32highways of this state and that is equipped for that purpose
33with a boom, winch, car carrier, or other similar equipment and
34is in the recovery, towing, or removal of wrecked, disabled,
35stolen, and abandoned motor vehicles and contracted for use by,
36through, or for any unit of local, county, or state government,
37and not authorized to transport passengers for hire or any
38person regularly engaged in towing or storing vehicles or
39vessels in Hillsborough County pursuant to section 715.07,
40Florida Statutes.
41     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
