A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to Solar Energy System Incentives Program;
3amending s. 377.806, F.S.; revising the expiration date
4for the Solar Energy System Incentives Program; extending
5the period of time for which residents of the state are
6eligible to receive rebates for specified solar energy
7systems; providing an appropriation; providing an
8effective date.

10Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12     Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 377.806, Florida
13Statutes, is amended to read:
14     377.806  Solar Energy System Incentives Program.-
15     (1)  PURPOSE.-The Solar Energy System Incentives Program is
16established within the commission to provide financial
17incentives for the purchase and installation of solar energy
18systems. Any resident of the state who purchases and installs a
19new solar energy system of 2 kilowatts or larger for a solar
20photovoltaic system, a solar energy system that provides at
21least 50 percent of a building's hot water consumption for a
22solar thermal system, or a solar thermal pool heater, from July
231, 2006, through June 30, 2015 2010, is eligible for a rebate on
24a portion of the purchase price of that solar energy system.
25     Section 2.  For the 2010-2011 fiscal year, the sum of $15
26million in nonrecurring funds is appropriated from the General
27Revenue Fund to the Department of Environmental Protection for
28the purpose of funding commercial and consumer solar incentives
29authorized in s. 377.806, Florida Statutes.
30     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
