    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Passport to Economic Progress
    3         program; amending s. 445.048, F.S.; changing the
    4         phrase “Food Stamp Program” to the phrase “Food
    5         Assistance Program” in reference to federal waivers
    6         for the Passport to Economic Progress program;
    7         providing an effective date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 445.048, Florida
   12  Statutes, is amended to read:
   13         445.048 Passport to Economic Progress program.—
   14         (2) WAIVERS.—If Workforce Florida, Inc., in consultation
   15  with the Department of Children and Family Services, finds that
   16  federal waivers would facilitate implementation of the program,
   17  the department shall immediately request such waivers, and
   18  Workforce Florida, Inc., shall report to the Governor, the
   19  President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of
   20  Representatives if any refusal of the federal government to
   21  grant such waivers prevents the implementation of the program.
   22  If Workforce Florida, Inc., finds that federal waivers to
   23  provisions of the Food Assistance Stamp Program would facilitate
   24  implementation of the program, the Department of Children and
   25  Family Services shall immediately request such waivers in
   26  accordance with s. 414.175.
   27         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
