    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to a review of the Department of State
    3         under the Florida Government Accountability Act;
    4         reenacting s. 20.10(2)(a), F.S., relating to the
    5         Division of Elections within the department; providing
    6         an effective date.

    8         WHEREAS, ss. 11.901-11.920, F.S., Florida Statutes, the
    9  Florida Government Accountability Act, subjects the Division of
   10  Elections within the Department of State to a sunset review
   11  process in order to determine whether the agency should be
   12  retained, modified, or abolished, and
   13         WHEREAS, the Department of State produced a report
   14  providing specific information, as enumerated in s. 11.906,
   15  Florida Statutes, and
   16         WHEREAS, upon receipt of the report, the Joint Legislative
   17  Sunset Committee and committees of the Senate and the House of
   18  Representatives assigned to act as sunset review committees
   19  reviewed the report, and
   20         WHEREAS, based on the report and public input, the
   21  legislative sunset review committees made recommendations on the
   22  abolition, continuation, or reorganization of the Division of
   23  Elections within the Department of State; on the need for the
   24  functions performed by this division; and on the consolidation,
   25  transfer, or reorganization of programs within the Department of
   26  State under review, NOW, THEREFORE,

   28  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   29  
   30         Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section
   31  20.10, Florida Statutes, is reenacted.
   32         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
