Florida Senate - 2010 SB 2374 By Senator Alexander 17-01612-10 20102374__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to the state group insurance program; 3 amending s. 110.123, F.S.; establishing the state’s 4 monthly contributions for employees who have 5 individual coverage and for employees who have family 6 coverage; providing an effective date. 7 8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9 10 Section 1. Subsection (12) of section 110.123, Florida 11 Statutes, is amended to read: 12 110.123 State group insurance program.— 13 (12) HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS.—The department is authorized 14 to establish health savings accounts for full-time and part-time 15 state employees in association with a health insurance plan 16 option authorized by the Legislature and conforming to the 17 requirements and limitations of federal provisions relating to 18 the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization 19 Act of 2003. 20 (a)1. A member participating in this health insurance plan 21 option shall be eligible to receive an employer contribution 22 into the employee’s health savings account from the State 23 Employees Health Insurance Trust Fund in an amount to be 24 determined by the Legislature. A member is not eligible for an 25 employer contribution upon termination of employment. For the 26 2010-20112009-2010fiscal year, the state’s monthly 27 contribution for employees having individual coverage shall be 28 $41.66 and the monthly contribution for employees having family 29 coverage shall be $83.33. 30 2. A member participating in this health insurance plan 31 option shall be eligible to deposit the member’s own funds into 32 a health savings account. 33 (b) The monthly premiums paid by the employer for a member 34 participating in this health insurance plan option shall include 35 an amount equal to the monthly employer contribution authorized 36 by the Legislature for that fiscal year. 37 (c) The health savings accounts shall be administered in 38 accordance with the requirements and limitations of federal 39 provisions relating to the Medicare Prescription Drug, 40 Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003. 41 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
