Florida Senate - 2010 SB 2602 By Senator Storms 10-01658B-10 20102602__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to grade K through 12 schools; 3 requiring that locker rooms in K-12 schools be locked 4 when not in use by students or other authorized 5 persons and be directly supervised by faculty or staff 6 when in use by students; providing fines for 7 violations; providing for the use of any fines that 8 are collected; providing an effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. Each locker room within any school attended by 13 students in grades K through 12 must be: 14 (1) Locked when the locker room is not in use by students 15 or other authorized persons; and 16 (2) Under direct supervision by an adult member of the 17 faculty or staff of the school during any time the locker room 18 is in use by students. 19 Section 2. A school that is found to be in violation of 20 this act three times shall be fined $1,000 for the third and 21 each subsequent violation by the Department of Education. Fines 22 collected pursuant to this act shall be transferred to the local 23 educational foundation in the county where the school is 24 located. If that county does not have an educational foundation, 25 the fines shall be transferred to the Consortium of Florida 26 Education Foundations. The fines shall be used for anti-bullying 27 measures. 28 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
