Florida Senate - 2010 SB 2638 By Senator Siplin 19-01638B-10 20102638__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to specialty license plates; amending 3 ss. 320.08056 and 320.08058, F.S.; creating the 4 Hispanics Settled Florida in 1513 license plate; 5 establishing an annual use fee for the plate; 6 providing for the distribution of use fees received 7 from the sale of such plate; providing an effective 8 date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. Paragraph (rrr) is added to subsection (4) of 13 section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read: 14 320.08056 Specialty license plates.— 15 (4) The following license plate annual use fees shall be 16 collected for the appropriate specialty license plates: 17 (rrr) Hispanics Settled Florida in 1513 license plate, $25. 18 Section 2. Subsection (70) is added to section 320.08058, 19 Florida Statutes, to read: 20 320.08058 Specialty license plates.— 21 (70) HISPANICS SETTLED FLORIDA IN 1513 LICENSE PLATES.— 22 (a) The department shall develop a Hispanics Settled 23 Florida in 1513 license plate as provided in this section. The 24 plate must bear the colors and design approved by the 25 department. The word “Florida” must appear at the top of the 26 plate and the words “WWW.HISPANICACHIEVERS.ORG” must appear at 27 the bottom of the plate. 28 (b) The annual use fees shall be distributed to National 29 Hispanic Corporate Achievers, Inc., an organization in Longwood 30 which sponsors minority job fairs. National Hispanic Corporate 31 Achievers, Inc., shall use the funds as follows: 32 1. Ten percent shall be distributed to the Valencia 33 Community College Foundation to fund scholarship grants to 34 Hispanic students; 35 2. Ten percent shall be distributed to Anna G. Mendez 36 University to fund scholarship grants to Hispanic students; 37 3. Thirty percent shall be distributed to the Florida 38 Hispanic Foundation to fund scholarship grants to community 39 colleges in this state, as determined by the foundation; and 40 4. The remaining funds shall be used by Hispanic Corporate 41 Achievers, Inc., to fund job-development programs, job fairs, 42 and educational seminars in this state. 43 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
