    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing the 2009-2010 Rickards High
    3         School Boys’ Basketball Team, winners of the Florida
    4         High School Athletic Association Class 3A State
    5         Championship.
    6  
    7         WHEREAS, with commitment, determination, and hard work, the
    8  2009-2010 Rickards High School Boys’ Basketball Team won the
    9  Florida High School Athletic Association Class 3A State
   10  Championship on March 4, 2010, at the Lakeland Center by beating
   11  the two-time defending State Champion, Pine Crest High School,
   12  by a score of 70 to 46, and
   13         WHEREAS, claiming the State Championship title, the 2009
   14  2010 Rickards High School Boys’ Basketball Team finished the
   15  season with a perfect 27-0 record, and
   16         WHEREAS, outstanding skill, sportsmanship, and
   17  competitiveness have been characteristics consistently
   18  demonstrated by Rickards Raiders teammates Chris Bryant, Jakari
   19  Bush, Cameron Coffee, D'Marnier Cunningham, Avery Curry, Jerrell
   20  Gregory, Jordan Gregory, Fred Griggs, Devonte "Terry" Johnson,
   21  Avery Moore, and George Williams, and
   22         WHEREAS, led by Head Coach Eli A. Bryant and Assistant
   23  Coaches Chester Coffee, Phillip Everette, Desmond Cole, Avery
   24  Curry and Roy Howard, the Rickards Raiders accomplished the
   25  team’s goal to win the 3A state title and, in doing so, became
   26  the first team since 2005 to finish the season undefeated, and
   27         WHEREAS, the 2010 championship marks the third Florida High
   28  School Athletic Association Class 3A State Championship for the
   29  Rickards High School Boys’ Basketball Team, the first since
   30  1992, and
   31         WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the 2009-2010 Rickards
   32  High School Boys’ Basketball Team is applauded for the numerous
   33  accomplishments of its players and coaches, NOW, THEREFORE,
   34  
   35  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   36  
   37         That the Senate honors the 2009-2010 Rickards High School
   38  Boys’ Basketball Team for their outstanding record and for
   39  winning the 2010 Florida High School Athletic Association Class
   40  3A State Championship.
   41         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with
   42  the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the 2009-2010
   43  Rickards High School Boys’ Basketball Team as a tangible token
   44  of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
