    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to a review of the Department of
    3         Community Affairs and the Florida Housing Finance
    4         Corporation under the Florida Government
    5         Accountability Act; reenacting s. 20.18, F.S.,
    6         relating to the establishment of the Department of
    7         Community Affairs; reenacting s. 420.504, F.S.,
    8         relating to the establishment of the Florida Housing
    9         Finance Corporation; providing an effective date.

   11         WHEREAS, ss. 11.901-11.920, Florida Statutes, the Florida
   12  Government Accountability Act, subjects the Department of
   13  Community Affairs and the Florida Housing Finance Corporation to
   14  a sunset review process in order to determine whether the
   15  agencies should be retained, modified, or abolished, and
   16         WHEREAS, the Department of Community Affairs and the
   17  Florida Housing Finance Corporation produced a report providing
   18  specific information, as enumerated in s. 11.906, Florida
   19  Statutes, and
   20         WHEREAS, upon receipt of the report, the Joint Legislative
   21  Sunset Committee and committees of the Senate and the House of
   22  Representatives assigned to act as sunset review committees
   23  reviewed the report and requested studies by the Office of
   24  Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability, and
   25         WHEREAS, based on the department’s report, studies of the
   26  Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability,
   27  and public input, the Joint Legislative Sunset Committee and
   28  legislative sunset review committees made recommendations on the
   29  abolition, continuation, or reorganization of the Department of
   30  Community Affairs and the Florida Housing Finance Corporation;
   31  on the need for the functions performed by the agencies; and on
   32  the consolidation, transfer, or reorganization of programs
   33  within the Department of Community Affairs and the Florida
   34  Housing Finance Corporation, and
   35         WHEREAS, this Legislature wishes to retain the Department
   36  of Community Affairs and the Florida Housing Finance
   37  Corporation, NOW, THEREFORE,

   39  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   40  
   41         Section 1. Section 20.18, Florida Statutes, is reenacted.
   42         Section 2. Section 420.504, Florida Statutes, is reenacted.
   43         Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
