Florida Senate - 2010 (NP) SR 2862 By Senator Crist 12-05236-10 20102862__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution commending the dedication and success of 3 The Pepin Academies, Inc. 4 5 WHEREAS, The Pepin Academies, Inc., was founded in Tampa in 6 1999 as a special education charter school by a devoted group of 7 volunteers, parents, and business leaders, and 8 WHEREAS, The Pepin Academies, Inc., which opened its doors 9 with an initial enrollment of 17 students, currently enrolls 10 more than 450 culturally diverse students in kindergarten 11 through grade 12 and also offers a post high school program for 12 students up to 22 years of age, and 13 WHEREAS, The Pepin Academies, Inc., serves students with 14 specific learning disabilities, language impairments, 15 intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic 16 brain injuries, attention deficit disorder, attention deficit 17 hyperactivity disorder, hearing and visual impairments, and 18 physical and occupational disabilities, and 19 WHEREAS, The Pepin Academies, Inc., is accredited by the 20 Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is known for 21 sharing its longstanding success with other charter schools, and 22 WHEREAS, in an effort to meet the needs of each student, a 23 multidisciplinary team conducts an individualized comprehensive 24 diagnostic assessment that guides each student’s personal 25 education program, and 26 WHEREAS, the individual schools that comprise The Pepin 27 Academies, Inc., use a combination of technology, team learning, 28 multiple intelligences training, and cross-age tutoring to 29 enable each student to enter the world with confidence and 30 skill, NOW, THEREFORE, 31 32 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 33 34 That The Pepin Academies, Inc., is recognized and commended for 35 the dedication and success it has demonstrated in creating an 36 exceptional program to meet the needs of some of the state’s 37 most deserving students.
