A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to school food services; providing a short
3title; amending s. 1006.06, F.S.; providing that district
4school board policies for the operation of school food
5service programs include the requirement that schools
6provide and post nutritional information for daily meals;
7amending s. 1006.0606, F.S.; requiring each school
8district with a summer nutrition program to provide and
9post nutritional information for daily meals; providing an
10effective date.

12Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
13
14     Section 1.  This act may be cited as the "Cafeteria
15Nutritional Awareness Act."
16     Section 2.  Subsection (3) of section 1006.06, Florida
17Statutes, is amended to read:
18     1006.06  School food service programs.--
19     (3)  Each district school board shall consider the
20recommendations of the district school superintendent and adopt
21policies to provide for an appropriate food and nutrition
22program for students consistent with federal law and State Board
23of Education rule. The policies shall include the requirement
24that accurate and adequate information regarding the nutritional
25content and value of daily meals be provided to parents and
26students. Such information shall be posted in a prominent place
27in the cafeteria in each school and shall include, but not be
28limited to, the sugar, fat, calorie, and vitamin contents in
29each breakfast and lunch meal and the companies that provide the
30food and beverages to the school.
31     Section 3.  Subsection (6) is added to section 1006.0606,
32Florida Statutes, to read:
33     1006.0606  Children's summer nutrition program.--
34     (6)  Each school district with a summer nutrition program
35shall provide accurate and adequate information regarding the
36nutritional content and value of daily meals to parents and
37students. Such information shall be posted in a prominent place
38in each school that is participating in the summer nutrition
39program and shall include, but not be limited to, the sugar,
40fat, calorie, and vitamin contents in each breakfast and lunch
41meal and the companies that provide the food and beverages.
42     Section 4.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
