    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to suicide prevention education;
    3         amending s. 1006.07, F.S.; requiring that district
    4         school boards provide access to educational resources
    5         regarding suicide prevention to all instructional and
    6         administrative personnel; providing for school
    7         personnel who choose to participate in suicide
    8         prevention training to receive in-service credit
    9         hours; requiring that each district school board
   10         determine the amount of such credit; providing an
   11         effective date.

   13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   14  
   15         Section 1. Subsection (7) is added to section 1006.07,
   16  Florida Statutes, to read:
   17         1006.07 District school board duties relating to student
   18  discipline and school safety.—The district school board shall
   19  provide for the proper accounting for all students, for the
   20  attendance and control of students at school, and for proper
   21  attention to health, safety, and other matters relating to the
   22  welfare of students, including:
   23         (7) SUICIDE PREVENTION EDUCATION.—Beginning with the 2010
   24  2011 school year, provide all instructional and administrative
   25  personnel with access to educational resources regarding suicide
   26  prevention which are approved by the Statewide Office for
   27  Suicide Prevention. School personnel who choose to participate
   28  in suicide prevention training shall receive in-service credit
   29  hours, the amount of which shall be determined by each district
   30  school board.
   31         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
