    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to suicide prevention education;
    3         amending s. 1006.07, F.S.; requiring that district
    4         school boards provide access to suicide prevention
    5         educational resources to all instructional and
    6         administrative personnel as part of the school
    7         district professional development system; providing an
    8         effective date.

   10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   11  
   12         Section 1. Subsection (7) is added to section 1006.07,
   13  Florida Statutes, to read:
   14         1006.07 District school board duties relating to student
   15  discipline and school safety.—The district school board shall
   16  provide for the proper accounting for all students, for the
   17  attendance and control of students at school, and for proper
   18  attention to health, safety, and other matters relating to the
   19  welfare of students, including:
   20         (7) SUICIDE PREVENTION EDUCATION.—Beginning with the 2010
   21  2011 school year, provide access to suicide prevention
   22  educational resources, as approved by the Statewide Office of
   23  Suicide Prevention, to all instructional and administrative
   24  personnel as part of the school district professional
   25  development system under s. 1012.98.
   26         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
