    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to electrical and alarm system
    3         contracting; amending s. 489.537, F.S.; requiring that
    4         an electrical journeyman be present on any industrial
    5         or commercial new construction site when certain
    6         electrical work is being performed; providing an
    7         effective date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Paragraph (f) of subsection (3) of section
   12  489.537, Florida Statutes, is amended, and subsection (10) is
   13  added to that section, to read:
   14         489.537 Application of this part.—
   15         (3) Nothing in this act limits the power of a municipality
   16  or county:
   17         (f) To require that one electrical journeyman, who is a
   18  graduate of the Institute of Applied Technology in Construction
   19  Excellence or licensed pursuant to s. 489.5335, be present on an
   20  industrial or commercial new construction site with a facility
   21  of 50,000 gross square feet or more when electrical work in
   22  excess of 77 volts is being performed in order to supervise or
   23  perform such work, except as provided in s. 489.503.
   24         (10) At least one electrical journeyman who is licensed
   25  pursuant to s. 489.5335 must be present on an industrial or
   26  commercial new construction site when electrical work in excess
   27  of 77 volts is being performed in order to supervise or perform
   28  such work, except as provided in s. 489.503.
   29         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
