| 2 | An act relating to the Florida School for the Deaf and the |
| 3 | Blind; amending s. 1002.36, F.S.; requiring that salaries |
| 4 | for full-time instructional personnel at the school be |
| 5 | increased annually according to the average of certain |
| 6 | comparable salaries; requiring annual negotiation of |
| 7 | salary schedules; providing for implementation based on |
| 8 | funding; providing an effective date. |

| 10 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 11 |
|
| 12 | Section 1. Subsections (7), (8), and (9) of section |
| 13 | 1002.36, Florida Statutes, are renumbered as subsections (8), |
| 14 | (9), and (10), respectively, and a new subsection (7) is added |
| 15 | to that section to read: |
| 16 | 1002.36 Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind.- |
| 17 | (7) INSTRUCTIONAL PERSONNEL SALARIES.-Critical to |
| 18 | accomplishment of the mission and objectives of the Florida |
| 19 | School for the Deaf and the Blind is the retention of valued |
| 20 | instructional personnel at the school. To bring about such |
| 21 | retention, the salaries for full-time instructional personnel at |
| 22 | the school shall be increased annually to the average of |
| 23 | comparable salaries, based upon academic qualifications and |
| 24 | years of experience, in the school districts of Clay County, |
| 25 | Putnam County, St. Johns County, and Flagler County. The salary |
| 26 | schedule for instructional personnel at the school shall be |
| 27 | negotiated annually in accordance with chapter 447. This |
| 28 | subsection shall be implemented to the extent funding is |
| 29 | specifically provided for this purpose. |
| 30 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010. |
