A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to elections; amending s. 101.62, F.S.;
3authorizing an elector to attain status as a permanent
4absentee voter; specifying circumstances under which a
5request for an absentee ballot may be considered canceled;
6providing an effective date.

8Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10     Section 1.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of section
11101.62, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
12     101.62  Request for absentee ballots.-
13     (1)(a)  The supervisor may accept a request for an absentee
14ballot from an elector in person or in writing. Except as
15provided in s. 101.694, one request shall be deemed sufficient
16to receive an absentee ballot for all future elections through
17the next two regularly scheduled general elections, unless the
18elector or the elector's designee indicates at the time the
19request is made that the elections for which the elector desires
20to receive the an absentee ballot only for specific elections. A
21Such request for an absentee ballot may be considered canceled
22when any first-class mail sent by the supervisor to the elector
23is returned as undeliverable or when the elector notifies the
24supervisor in person or in writing that he or she no longer
25wishes to receive an absentee ballot.
26     Section 2.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2011.
