| 5 | WHEREAS, in 2007, there were approximately 2.6 million |
| 6 | disabled Floridians, and |
| 7 | WHEREAS, a disability can be physical, perceptual, |
| 8 | intellectual, academic, or psychiatric and can be visible or |
| 9 | hidden, and |
| 10 | WHEREAS, a disability affects an individual in many facets |
| 11 | of daily living, including housing, employment, education, |
| 12 | leisure, or personal care, and |
| 13 | WHEREAS, disabled individuals are a vital part of Florida |
| 14 | in their roles as valued workers, civic leaders, business |
| 15 | owners, veterans, students, family members, and friends, and |
| 16 | WHEREAS, advocacy and education are valuable tools for |
| 17 | promoting policies that remove barriers and increase awareness |
| 18 | regarding persons with disabilities, NOW, THEREFORE, |
| 19 |

| 20 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 21 | Florida: |

| 23 | That April 15, 2010, is recognized as "Disability Awareness |
| 24 | Day" in the State of Florida. |
