| 6 | WHEREAS, Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, a unit of |
| 7 | the College of Education of Florida Atlantic University, is one |
| 8 | of the oldest nature centers in the United States, annually |
| 9 | serving more than 25,000 students, 750 teachers, and 12,500 |
| 10 | adults and families from Palm Beach County and surrounding |
| 11 | counties, and |
| 12 | WHEREAS, Pine Jog Environmental Education Center is |
| 13 | nationally recognized regarding the development and delivery of |
| 14 | hands-on educational experiences that encourage young people to |
| 15 | become knowledgeable stewards of the natural world, and |
| 16 | WHEREAS, Pine Jog Environmental Education Center is the |
| 17 | home of Pine Jog Elementary School, one of the first public |
| 18 | schools in Florida to be awarded LEED Gold Certification by the |
| 19 | U.S. Green Building Council, and |
| 20 | WHEREAS, Pine Jog Environmental Education Center is helping |
| 21 | to ensure the future of environmental education in Florida by |
| 22 | offering educator professional development workshops and summer |
| 23 | institutes as well as a master's degree program in environmental |
| 24 | education and an undergraduate fellowship in civic engagement |
| 25 | and service learning, and |
| 26 | WHEREAS, this year Pine Jog Environmental Education Center |
| 27 | is marking a half-century of providing truly exemplary service |
| 28 | to the people of Florida through its dedicated staff, innovative |
| 29 | programs, day and residential camps, and excellent facilities, |
| 30 | NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 35 | That the House of Representatives congratulates and |
| 36 | commends Pine Jog Environmental Education Center for 50 years of |
| 37 | accomplishment in promoting the protection and preservation of |
| 38 | Florida's unique, precious, and irreplaceable natural |
| 39 | environment through environmental education. |
