House Resolution
2A resolution designating April 21-22, 2010, as "Miami-Dade
3County Days" at the Capitol.

5     WHEREAS, greater Miami-Dade County contains thousands of
6businesses that employ millions of people and is the site of
7foreign consulates, international trade offices, and
8multinational chambers of commerce, and
9     WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County is a center of world finance,
10with hundreds of financial institutions and foreign agencies
11within its boundaries, and
12     WHEREAS, the film and music industries have made Miami-Dade
13County one of the largest video and audio production centers in
14the nation, and
15     WHEREAS, agriculture continues to provide hundreds of
16millions of dollars annually in economic activity to Miami-Dade
17County, and the agricultural industry has diversified in such a
18manner that Miami-Dade County is now one of the largest
19producers in the United States of tropical fruits, ornamental
20plants, and fish, and
21     WHEREAS, manufacturing is also an important industry in
22Miami-Dade County, with thousands of companies employing several
23thousand individuals in manufacturing jobs, and
24     WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County is currently experiencing a
25cultural boom in world-class entertainment and cultural
26activities, which is evidenced by the thousands of nonprofit
27cultural organizations offering dance, theater, music, and
28visual arts, and festivals and special events, and
29     WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County community is a microcosm of
30the world, in which scores of countries are represented and
31diverse languages are spoken daily, and
32     WHEREAS, 21 years ago the late Representative John F.
33Cosgrove, as chairperson of the former Dade County legislative
34delegation, worked with the private sector to create what is now
35Miami-Dade County Days in Tallahassee, NOW, THEREFORE,

37Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
38Florida:

40     That April 21-22, 2010, are designated as "Miami-Dade
41County Days" at the Capitol.
