A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the breast cancer early detection and
3treatment referral program; amending s. 381.932, F.S.;
4revising certain criteria of the program by requiring that
5the public education and outreach initiative and
6professional education programs use guidelines established
7by the American Cancer Society rather than the United
8States Preventive Services Task Force; providing an
9effective date.

11Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13     Section 1.  Paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (3) of
14section 381.932, Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
15     381.932  Breast cancer early detection and treatment
16referral program.-
17     (3)  The program shall include, but not be limited to, the:
18     (a)  Establishment of a public education and outreach
19initiative to publicize breast cancer early detection services,
20the benefits of early detection of breast cancer, and the
21recommended frequency for receiving screening services,
22including clinical breast examinations and mammography
23guidelines established by the American Cancer Society United
24States Preventive Services Task Force.
25     (b)  Development of professional education programs that
26include information regarding the benefits of the early
27detection of breast cancer and the recommended frequency for
28receiving a mammogram, as recommended in the most current breast
29cancer screening guidelines established by the American Cancer
30Society United States Preventive Services Task Force.
31     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
