    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the breast cancer early detection
    3         and treatment referral program; amending s. 381.932,
    4         F.S.; revising certain criteria of the program by
    5         requiring that the public education and outreach
    6         initiative and professional education programs use
    7         guidelines currently employed by the United States
    8         Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rather than
    9         the United States Preventive Services Task Force;
   10         providing an effective date.

   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13  
   14         Section 1. Paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (3) of
   15  section 381.932, Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
   16         381.932 Breast cancer early detection and treatment
   17  referral program.—
   18         (3) The program shall include, but not be limited to, the:
   19         (a) Establishment of a public education and outreach
   20  initiative to publicize breast cancer early detection services,
   21  the benefits of early detection of breast cancer, and the
   22  recommended frequency for receiving screening services,
   23  including clinical breast examinations and mammography
   24  guidelines currently employed by the United States Centers for
   25  Disease Control and Prevention established by the United States
   26  Preventive Services Task Force.
   27         (b) Development of professional education programs that
   28  include information regarding the benefits of the early
   29  detection of breast cancer and the recommended frequency for
   30  receiving a mammogram, as recommended in the most current breast
   31  cancer screening guidelines currently employed by the United
   32  States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established by
   33  the United States Preventive Services Task Force.
   34         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
