    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to crisis stabilization units;
    3         amending s. 394.875, F.S.; directing the Department of
    4         Children and Family Services to implement a
    5         demonstration project in circuit 18 to test the impact
    6         of expanding the maximum number of crisis
    7         stabilization unit beds; providing an effective date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Paragraph (d) is added to subsection (1) of
   12  section 394.875, Florida Statutes, to read:
   13         394.875 Crisis stabilization units, residential treatment
   14  facilities, and residential treatment centers for children and
   15  adolescents; authorized services; license required.—
   16         (1)
   17         (d) The department is directed to implement a demonstration
   18  project in circuit 18 to test the impact of expanding beds
   19  authorized in crisis stabilization units from 30 to 50 beds.
   20  Specifically, the department is directed to authorize existing
   21  public or private crisis stabilization units in circuit 18 to
   22  expand bed capacity to a maximum of 50 beds and to assess the
   23  impact such expansion would have on the availability of crisis
   24  stabilization services to clients.
   25         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
