Florida Senate - 2011 SB 1106 By Senator Bennett 21-01205-11 20111106__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to an exemption from hunter safety 3 course requirements; amending ss. 379.353 and 4 379.3581, F.S.; providing an exemption from hunter 5 safety course requirements for a person issued a 6 permit, license, or authorization to take game or fur 7 bearing animals on private land; directing the Fish 8 and Wildlife Conservation Commission to adopt rules; 9 providing an effective date. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. Subsection (3) is added to section 379.353, 14 Florida Statutes, to read: 15 379.353 Recreational licenses and permits; exemptions from 16 fees and requirements.— 17 (3) A person who is issued a permit, license, or 18 authorization to take game or fur-bearing animals on private 19 land is exempt from s. 379.3581. 20 Section 2. Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section 21 379.3581, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 22 379.3581 Hunter safety course; requirements; penalty.— 23 (2)(a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) and s. 24 379.353(3), a person born on or after June 1, 1975, may not be 25 issued a license to take wild animal life with the use of a 26 firearm, gun, bow, or crossbow in this state without having 27 first successfully completed a hunter safety course as provided 28 in this section, and without having in his or her personal 29 possession a hunter safety certification card, as provided in 30 this section. 31 Section 3. The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is 32 directed to adopt rules providing for the issuance of a permit, 33 license, or authorization to take game or fur-bearing animals on 34 private land. The rules shall require a person to affirm that 35 the person understands the restriction of the permit, license, 36 or authorization and that the person is of age and knowledgeable 37 in hunting safety. 38 Section 4. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
