       Senator Latvala moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with directory and title amendments)
    2  
    3         Between lines 949 and 950
    4  insert:
    5         (c) A person charged with a traffic infraction may request
    6  a hearing within 180 days after the date of the violation,
    7  regardless of any action taken by the court or the department to
    8  suspend the driving privilege of the person, and upon request,
    9  the clerk must set the case for hearing. The person shall be
   10  given a form for requesting that the driving privilege be
   11  reinstated. The court may grant a request for a hearing made
   12  after 180 days after the alleged offense. This paragraph does
   13  not affect the assessment of late fees as otherwise provided in
   14  this chapter.
