Florida Senate - 2011 (NP) SR 1442 By Senator Joyner 18-00287A-11 20111442__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution commending Dolores Keen, Rose Louis-Paul 3 Dodson, and Renee Roundtree as Women of Great Valor. 4 5 WHEREAS, Dolores Keen, Rose Louis-Paul Dodson, and Renee 6 Roundtree demonstrated tremendous valor and bravery through 7 their actions in the early morning hours of June 29, 2010, when 8 they witnessed the shooting of two officers from the Tampa 9 Police Department, and 10 WHEREAS, upon hearing gunfire, Dolores Keen called 911 11 without hesitation to report to the Tampa Police Department that 12 two officers had been shot by an unknown assailant, and 13 WHEREAS, Rose Louis-Paul Dodson and Renee Roundtree ran to 14 the aid of the fallen officers, Officer David Curtis and Officer 15 Jeffrey Kocab, in an effort to offer lifesaving assistance and 16 comfort as they lay dying, and 17 WHEREAS, these upstanding citizens truly “did the right 18 thing” without concern for their personal welfare in a community 19 where such incidents are more often ignored due to the potential 20 for criticism, retribution, and threat of being ostracized by 21 neighbors, friends, family members of the perpetrator, or gangs, 22 and 23 WHEREAS, through their actions, Dolores Keen, Rose Louis 24 Paul Dodson, and Renee Roundtree have set a premier example of 25 valor, bravery, and most of all, human compassion, NOW, 26 THEREFORE, 27 28 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 29 30 That the Senate does pause in its deliberations to pay its 31 respects to Dolores Keen, Rose Louis-Paul Dodson, and Renee 32 Roundtree for their brave actions of human compassion and 33 kindness which set an exemplary standard for every person, young 34 and old, throughout the State of Florida, thereby creating a 35 better quality of life for every man, woman, and child in this 36 great state.
