| 7 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 8 |

| 9 | Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of section |
| 10 | 394.875, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: |
| 11 | 394.875 Crisis stabilization units, residential treatment |
| 12 | facilities, and residential treatment centers for children and |
| 13 | adolescents; authorized services; license required.- |
| 14 | (1)(a) The purpose of a crisis stabilization unit is to |
| 15 | stabilize and redirect a client to the most appropriate and |
| 16 | least restrictive community setting available, consistent with |
| 17 | the client's needs. Crisis stabilization units may screen, |
| 18 | assess, and admit for stabilization persons who present |
| 19 | themselves to the unit and persons who are brought to the unit |
| 20 | under s. 394.463. Clients may be provided 24-hour observation, |
| 21 | medication prescribed by a physician or psychiatrist, and other |
| 22 | appropriate services. Crisis stabilization units shall provide |
| 23 | services regardless of the client's ability to pay and shall be |
| 24 | limited in size to a maximum of 50 30 beds. |
| 25 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011. |
