5 | Section 6. Subsection (4) of section 943.1758, Florida |
6 | Statutes, is amended to read: |
7 | 943.1758 Curriculum revision for diverse populations; |
8 | skills training.- |
9 | (4)(a) By October 1, 2001, The instruction in the subject |
10 | of interpersonal skills relating to diverse populations shall |
11 | consist of a module developed by the commission on the topic of |
12 | discriminatory profiling. |
13 | (b) By January 1, 2012, the module described in paragraph |
14 | (a) shall include instruction in implementation of the relevant |
15 | provisions of chapter 820 in the manner provided in s. |
16 | 820.02(6). |
17 | Section 7. Subsection (4) is added to section 30.15, |
18 | Florida Statutes, to read: |
19 | 30.15 Powers, duties, and obligations.- |
20 | (4) On or before July 1, 2012, every sheriff shall |
21 | incorporate a policy into the sheriff's policies and practices |
22 | concerning implementation of the relevant provisions of chapter |
23 | 820 in a manner consistent with federal laws regulating |
24 | immigration, protecting the civil rights of all persons, and |
25 | respecting the privileges and immunities of United States |
26 | citizens as provided in s. 820.02(6). |
27 | Section 8. Section 166.0493, Florida Statutes, is amended |
28 | to read: |
29 | 166.0493 Powers, duties, and obligations of municipal law |
30 | enforcement agencies.- |
31 | (1) On or before January 1, 2002, Every municipal law |
32 | enforcement agency shall incorporate an antiracial or other |
33 | antidiscriminatory profiling policy into the agency's policies |
34 | and practices, utilizing the Florida Police Chiefs Association |
35 | Model Policy as a guide. Antiprofiling policies shall include |
36 | the elements of definitions, traffic stop procedures, community |
37 | education and awareness efforts, and policies for the handling |
38 | of complaints from the public. |
39 | (2) On or before July 1, 2012, every municipal law |
40 | enforcement agency shall incorporate a policy into the agency's |
41 | policies and practices concerning implementation of the relevant |
42 | provisions of chapter 820 in a manner consistent with federal |
43 | laws regulating immigration, protecting the civil rights of all |
44 | persons, and respecting the privileges and immunities of United |
45 | States citizens as provided in s. 820.02(6). |
46 | Section 9. On or before July 1, 2012, every state law |
47 | enforcement agency shall incorporate a policy into the agency's |
48 | policies and practices concerning implementation of the relevant |
49 | provisions of chapter 820, Florida Statutes, in a manner |
50 | consistent with federal laws regulating immigration, protecting |
51 | the civil rights of all persons, and respecting the privileges |
52 | and immunities of United States citizens as provided in s. |
53 | 820.02(6), Florida Statutes. |
