Florida Senate - 2011 (NP) SR 2166 By Senator Evers 2-03579-11 20112166__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing April 5, 2011, as “Department 3 of Juvenile Justice: Youth Success Day” in Florida. 4 5 WHEREAS, the State of Florida and the Florida Department of 6 Juvenile Justice recognize the importance of preventing juvenile 7 delinquency, reducing recidivism of those currently in the 8 juvenile system, and contributing to the safety of Florida’s 9 citizens and communities, and 10 WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice’s array 11 of prevention, education, health, probation, and community 12 intervention coupled with its diversion, detention, and 13 residential services have resulted in a reduction in juvenile 14 crime and a safer Florida for all residents, and 15 WHEREAS, youth, families, law enforcement agencies, the 16 courts, program providers, local boards and councils, schools, 17 volunteers, and other partners work tirelessly to improve the 18 lives of young people, and 19 WHEREAS, juvenile justice programs help at-risk children 20 and their families stay crime-free, lowering the crime rate and 21 saving lives, and 22 WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice is 23 charged with the mission of increasing public safety by reducing 24 juvenile delinquency through effective prevention, intervention, 25 and treatment services that strengthen families and turn around 26 the lives of troubled youth, and 27 WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice is part 28 of the community and part of the solution in reducing juvenile 29 crime, NOW, THEREFORE, 30 31 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 32 33 That the members of the Florida Senate recognize April 5, 34 2011, as “Department of Juvenile Justice: Youth Success Day” in 35 Florida and encourage families, schools, providers, faith-based 36 and civic organizations, businesses, and communities to join 37 with the department in preventing juvenile crime.
