Florida Senate - 2011 (NP) SR 2182 By Senator Montford 6-04064-11 20112182__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution honoring the 2010-2011 Lincoln High 3 School Varsity Cheerleading team for winning the state 4 cheerleading championship in their division. 5 6 WHEREAS, the 2010-2011 Lincoln High School Varsity 7 Cheerleading team, led by head coach Kathy Tyree and assistant 8 Chika Ofuani, won the state championship in their division and 9 became the first cheerleading team in school history and in Leon 10 County to win a state championship, and 11 WHEREAS, Allen Burch, Principal of Lincoln High School, in 12 recognition of that accomplishment, pointed out that the members 13 of the team had an average GPA equivalent to “A” and that it 14 made him especially proud as a principal to know that the young 15 ladies on the team represented the school well not only on the 16 athletic field but also in the classroom and are role models in 17 the school and in the community, and 18 WHEREAS, in pursuit of their title, the 2010-2011 Lincoln 19 High School Varsity Cheerleading team traveled to Crestview to 20 compete in the FHSAA Region 1 Competition Medium Varsity 21 Division and to Daytona Beach to compete in the American 22 Championships State Cheer and Dance Competition Medium Varsity 23 Division and placed first in both competitions on December 11, 24 2010, and January 15, 2011, respectively, and 25 WHEREAS, the 2010-2011 Lincoln High School Varsity 26 Cheerleading team subsequently traveled to Kissimmee to compete 27 in the FHSAA State Cheerleading Finals Medium Varsity Division 28 and placed first on February 5, 2011, NOW, THEREFORE, 29 30 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 31 32 That the 2010-2011 Lincoln High School Varsity Cheerleading 33 team and its coaches are recognized and congratulated for their 34 outstanding performance and accomplishments in the 2010-2011 35 cheerleading season, especially for winning the state 36 championship in their division. 37 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with 38 the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to head coach Kathy 39 Tyree as a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida 40 Senate.
