Florida Senate - 2011 (NP) SR 2208 By Senator Rich 34-04713-11 20112208__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution congratulating Homestead Hospital for 3 continuing the tradition of high-quality, 4 compassionate care the community has come to know, and 5 expressing appreciation to Chief Executive Officer 6 Bill Duquette for his inspiring leadership. 7 8 WHEREAS, in 1940, a group of citizens in the City of 9 Homestead hosted two potluck fish fry events and raised almost 10 $12,000 to develop a hospital in Homestead, and 11 WHEREAS, in May 2007, a new, $135 million, state-of-the 12 art, full-service, 142-bed facility opened its doors to the 13 public, ushering in a new era for Homestead Hospital and 14 celebrating its emergence as one of the largest employers in 15 south Miami-Dade County, with nearly 1,200 employees, and 16 WHEREAS, Homestead Hospital’s medical staff is made up of 17 more than 400 physicians representing more than 30 specialties, 18 ranging from cardiology and gastroenterology to neurology and 19 urology, and 20 WHEREAS, Homestead Hospital is a part of Baptist Health 21 South Florida, the largest faith-based, not-for-profit health 22 care organization in the region, NOW, THEREFORE, 23 24 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 25 26 That the members of the Senate congratulate Homestead 27 Hospital for continuing the tradition of high-quality, 28 compassionate care and express appreciation to Chief Executive 29 Officer Bill Duquette for his inspiring leadership.
