Florida Senate - 2011 (NP) SR 2224 By Senator Sobel 31-05143A-11 20112224__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution encouraging the disclosure of records 3 relating to the transportation of persons to 4 extermination camps, work camps, concentration camps, 5 prisoner-of-war camps, or similar camps in Europe 6 during World War II. 7 8 WHEREAS, the Legislature finds that during World War II, 9 many thousands of persons, including current residents of this 10 state, were transported by rail companies to extermination 11 camps, work camps, concentration camps, prisoner-of-war camps, 12 or similar camps in Europe, and 13 WHEREAS, the Legislature finds that rail companies and 14 related entities have not completely disclosed their activities 15 and relationships relating to the transportation of persons by 16 rail to the various camps in Europe during World War II, and 17 WHEREAS, the Legislature finds that rail companies and 18 related entities have not provided restitution to all 19 identifiable victims of their activities relating to the 20 transportation of persons to the various camps during World War 21 II, NOW, THEREFORE, 22 23 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 24 25 That rail companies and related entities are encouraged to 26 search for and publicly release all records in their possession, 27 custody, or control relating to the transportation of persons to 28 extermination camps, work camps, concentration camps, prisoner 29 of-war camps, or similar camps in Europe during World War II, 30 and to compensate all identifiable victims of those activities.
