    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing the members of the For
    3         Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology
    4         (FIRST) Lego League Team 4129, the Hammerheads, for
    5         their outstanding achievement at the 2011 World
    6         Festival.

    8         WHEREAS, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and
    9  Technology (FIRST) provides an inspirational learning experience
   10  that celebrates engineering, science, and technology, and allows
   11  participants to develop personal and technical skills that will
   12  lead them to future success in related fields, and
   13         WHEREAS, on February 27, 2011, FIRST Lego League (FLL) Team
   14  4129, known as the Hammerheads, competed in the 9- to 14-year
   15  old age group FLL Florida championship tournament at the Florida
   16  Institute of Technology in Melbourne, and
   17         WHEREAS, FLL Team 4129, the Hammerheads, placed first in
   18  the state tournament and went on to represent Florida at the
   19  2011 World Festival in St. Louis, Missouri, and
   20         WHEREAS, from April 27-30, 2011, FLL Team 4129, the
   21  Hammerheads, competed against 80 teams representing 25 countries
   22  in three areas: robot, research, and core values, and
   23         WHEREAS, FLL Team 4129, the Hammerheads, placed first in
   24  the robot category and third in the all-around, the only team
   25  from the United States to place, and
   26         WHEREAS, the members of FLL Team 4129, the Hammerheads, are
   27  homeschooled students Brock Bogeajis, Cole Morris, Braden
   28  Verkaik, and Garrett Verkaik, all of Eustis, and Jonah Locke,
   29  Ashley White, and Jacob White, all of Umatilla, and Eustis High
   30  School student Parker Verkaik, and
   31         WHEREAS, the members of FLL Team 4129, the Hammerheads,
   32  brought honor and distinction to this state as one of the top
   33  three teams worldwide, NOW, THEREFORE,
   34  
   35  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

   37         That the members of the For Inspiration and Recognition of
   38  Science and Technology (FIRST) Lego League Team 4129, the
   39  Hammerheads, are recognized for their outstanding achievement at
   40  the 2011 World Festival.
