| 2 | An act relating to the breast cancer early detection and |
| 3 | treatment referral program; amending s. 381.932, F.S.; |
| 4 | revising certain criteria of the program by requiring that |
| 5 | the public education and outreach initiative and |
| 6 | professional education programs use guidelines currently |
| 7 | employed by the United States Centers for Disease Control |
| 8 | and Prevention rather than the United States Preventive |
| 9 | Services Task Force; providing an effective date. |

| 11 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 12 |
|
| 13 | Section 1. Paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (3) of |
| 14 | section 381.932, Florida Statutes, are amended to read: |
| 15 | 381.932 Breast cancer early detection and treatment |
| 16 | referral program.- |
| 17 | (3) The program shall include, but not be limited to, the: |
| 18 | (a) Establishment of a public education and outreach |
| 19 | initiative to publicize breast cancer early detection services, |
| 20 | the benefits of early detection of breast cancer, and the |
| 21 | recommended frequency for receiving screening services, |
| 22 | including clinical breast examinations and mammography |
| 23 | guidelines currently employed established by the United States |
| 24 | Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Preventive Services |
| 25 | Task Force. |
| 26 | (b) Development of professional education programs that |
| 27 | include information regarding the benefits of the early |
| 28 | detection of breast cancer and the recommended frequency for |
| 29 | receiving a mammogram, as recommended in the most current breast |
| 30 | cancer screening guidelines currently employed established by |
| 31 | the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention |
| 32 | Preventive Services Task Force. |
| 33 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011. |
