    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to building construction standards;
    3         amending s. 553.79, F.S.; prohibiting a local
    4         enforcement agency or building code official from
    5         requiring the inspection of any portion of a
    6         residential structure that is not directly related to
    7         the purpose for which a building permit is sought;
    8         providing an effective date.

   10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   11  
   12         Section 1. Subsection (17) is added to section 553.79,
   13  Florida Statutes, to read:
   14         553.79 Permits; applications; issuance; inspections.—
   15         (17) A local enforcement agency or local building code
   16  administrator, inspector, or other official or entity may not
   17  require, as a condition of issuance of a residential building
   18  permit, the inspection of any portion of a building or structure
   19  that is not directly related to the construction, erection,
   20  alteration, modification, repair, or demolition of the building
   21  or parcel for which the permit is sought.
   22         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
