    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Florida Center for Nursing;
    3         amending s. 464.0195, F.S.; imposing a fee upon each
    4         nurse at initial licensure and licensure renewal to
    5         fund the Florida Center for Nursing; providing for
    6         transfer and use of the collected fees; providing an
    7         effective date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Subsection (3) of section 464.0195, Florida
   12  Statutes, is amended to read:
   13         464.0195 Florida Center for Nursing; goals; licensure fee.—
   14         (3) In addition to the fees required for nursing licensure,
   15  a fee of $5 shall be imposed and collected from each nurse at
   16  the time of initial licensure and licensure renewal to fund the
   17  Florida Center for Nursing. The Board of Nursing shall also
   18  include on its initial and renewal application forms a question
   19  asking each nurse to voluntarily contribute additional to
   20  funding to the Florida center beyond the required for Nursing in
   21  addition to paying the fees imposed at the time of licensure and
   22  licensure renewal. Revenues collected from the $5 fee and from
   23  voluntary contributions collected from nurses beyond over and
   24  above the required fees shall be transferred from the Medical
   25  Quality Assurance Trust Fund to the Grants and Donations Trust
   26  Fund within the Department of Health and shall be used solely to
   27  support and maintain the goals and functions of the center.
   28  Before giving a nurse the opportunity to contribute to funding
   29  the center at the time of licensure renewal, the Board of
   30  Nursing shall provide the nurse with a summary of the center’s
   31  work, a link to the center’s Internet website, and the following
   32  statement: “The Florida Center for Nursing’s operating revenues
   33  are derived in part from your donation. In order for the Florida
   34  Center for Nursing to continue its work on behalf of nurses,
   35  please donate.”
   36         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
