       Senators Bogdanoff and Thrasher moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete everything after the enacting clause
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 1. Subsection (3) of section 43.291, Florida
    6  Statutes, is amended to read:
    7         43.291 Judicial nominating commissions.—
    8         (3) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section,
    9  each current member of a judicial nominating commission
   10  appointed directly by the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar
   11  shall serve the remainder of his or her term, unless removed for
   12  cause. The terms of all current other members of a judicial
   13  nominating commission are hereby terminated, and the Governor
   14  shall appoint new members to each judicial nominating commission
   15  in the following manner:
   16         (a) Nine Two appointments for terms ending January 15, 2015
   17  July 1, 2002, four one of which shall be an appointment selected
   18  from nominations submitted by the Board of Governors of The
   19  Florida Bar pursuant to paragraph (1)(a).;
   20         (b) Two appointments for terms ending July 1, 2003; and
   21         (c) Two appointments for terms ending July 1, 2004.

   23  Every subsequent appointment, except an appointment to fill a
   24  vacant, unexpired term, shall be for 4 years. Each expired term
   25  or vacancy shall be filled by appointment in the same manner as
   26  the member whose position is being filled.
   27         Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.

   30         And the title is amended as follows:
   31         Delete everything before the enacting clause
   32  and insert:
   33                        A bill to be entitled                      
   34         An act relating to judicial nominating commissions;
   35         amending s. 43.291, F.S.; providing for the
   36         appointment of all current members of the Judicial
   37         Nominating Commission; providing an effective date.
